The Dark Knight - NO spoilers
So, Adam and I went to the midnight showing of The Dark Knight last night and boy, what an experience it was! First, let me say that we absolutely LOVED the movie. It was the first film I had ever seen with Heath Ledger that I actually liked..... and that I had been impressed with his acting. I was so worried because in my opinion he was a very mediocre actor. But that's just my opinion. All the actors did their part in making it a great film!

So, on with why this post is a rant.... We started our adventure at around 11:30 and found the midnight was sold out so we went to the 12:30 am show. No problem. We got our seats which was lucky because the room was already filling up fast. After an hour and then twenty-five minutes of trailers the movie began. No problems.

About an hour into the film, something starts going weird with the sound. It randomly gets quieter with a fuzzing/crackling sound then back to normal (this cinema has sound problems apparently because last time we went there for Sweeney Todd the sound was terrible). Anyway, that stopped after about fifteen minutes or so. I think someone in the audience went and said something.

Next up, the Joker says "Let's try a little social experiment" and the film tears and breaks. Social experiment, huh? Yeah, a big one. This would have been a great joke if it had been part of the film (like they did in the Gremlins movie when the gremlins tear apart the film and you're left with a blank screen momentarily). Nope, this was for real O_O And it happened in two of the theaters at the same time. Huh? Anyway, after a half hour the cinema people got the problem fixed and the last half hour of the movie played out.

It's a great way to diffuse the built up tension and excitement of the climax of a movie. Still loved the movie, but it made me so very angry. I've been eagerly waiting over a year for this movie and my first experience seeing it was this. *sigh*

In the scheme of things it's not a huge deal. I'm just a bit miffed at the moment. IN a week or so we're going to go see it on the IMAX so that should be spectacular.

Aww man! That almost happened to me when I took my friend to see Sex and the City on opening night. The screen was blacking out alot. That sucks!

I also loved "Dark Knight" and it was worth the 2 and a half hours!!! I was in the Dolby sound room stadium and is still recovering from the loud chorus ringing in my ears.I swear people in CT are deaf!lol

It's funny I am also going to see it in the IMAX theater next week since they had a ton of scenes filmed with imax cameras!Joker stole that movie and Jack Nickelson got K.O.ed by a mile! The crowd at the show I went to kept clapping. I had a serious crush on two-face big time!I love that actor. Heath may end up getting an honorary Oscar from what everyone is saying.

Hey Gina at least you didn't get soda spilled on you like I did. The people in back of me were trying to find seats and one of the guys accidently dropped his sierra mist all down my back. That was a nice rush of cold ice! O_O!!!

This is why I'm grateful our local theater offers an upper balcony option. It costs $16 but from personal experience if I go there on a Saturday night and actually want to hear the movie / not get popcorn thrown at people / not listen to the guy next to me on his cell phone / every other horror story you can think of, it's worth the price (at least they offer some other perks as well).

Man, what a way to take you out of the experience. I should hope the theater at least offered free passes or something to make up for it.

That reminds me of the time we went to a movie... can't remember what... but they stopped it like 20 minutes in and said they had started the movie early by accident so they had to rewind it and replay it...

You know, it might have been Batman Begins. XD

We had no problems at our screening, so I am sorry to hear you had yours.

It was a brilliant movie wasn't it? One that made you think. I'm still convinced though that out of all the actors, Harvey Dent's was the most amazing. He made me cry :(

They sure did make Harvey a significant role! I loved him. Better than Tommy Lee Jones!

Oh I saw it, I just had to wait a half hour for the film to be fixed before I could see it. It just seemed like weird timing that it happened right there ^^;

That sounds like a generally horrible experence. I know i've been in theaters where the picture goes out or the sound wavers, but never where it's been actually ripped in half. 0_0!

I seen it in Imax, and although the screen is huge and the speakers are loud, it didn't use Imax's features (like the sound going from one end of the theater to the next or jumping around-- fun stuff like that). Don't get me wrong, it was good in Imax, but.. Well, I would have preferred to spend 4 to see it in theaters then 12 to see it in Imax.. =P
The screen is huuuge though and sometimes it almost feels like you're there. It's great. xD

Oh, the movie was awesome *forgot to comment*. As a lot of people here have said, I really liked the Harry Dent character. =3
I loved the "Social Experiment" part, but.. Dang this movie was "violent" in a non-violent way. Seriously. Dark and... dark.
I hope they come out with a next one because if that's how far they take it then... that's kinda a sad ending to the series and left a lot open. =/
